A Wall Panel For Every Design Style

Whether you’re first starting to dip your toes into the world of interior design or you’re a seasoned pro, your design tastes will likely fall into one or two of a few overarching design styles.

Wall treatments are one way to really carry home a style, so we thought we’d explore 3 iconic design styles and how you can achieve the look with Wall Theory wall panels.

We've linked the products along the way throughout the blog, so feel free to explore them more at your leisure.

Let’s dive into Traditional, Industrial, and Coastal design!

Traditional Design

What is traditional design?

Traditional interior design is inspired by the styles of the 18th and 19th century, borrowing design elements from Europe and East Asia. Traditional design incorporates natural materials and dark, warm colors to create a calm yet opulent space.

With traditional design, there’s usually a main focal point, like a large stone fireplace in the room. Other elements are focused on symmetry and consistency to create a sense of order. Think dark wood panelling, stone, and warm lighting.

How to get the Traditional look with Wall Theory

Because traditional design favors dark colors and natural textures, our faux stone panels and wood wall planks lend themselves to this style very well.

Our faux stacked stone creates a dramatic look, mimicking real stacked slate. Grey browndark brown, and black blend are our top colors for the Traditional look.

When it comes to wood walls, our Umber-ish and Raw-ish real distressed wood planks will give you that rich, dark brown tone that works nicely with the traditional style.

Here are some examples:

Industrial Design

What is industrial design?

Industrial design also has its roots in the past, taking inspiration from factory buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is defined by exposed architectural elements, like pipes, beams, and concrete, creating an unfinished look.

Industrial style is uncluttered, with an open floor plan and clean lines. When it comes to color, greys, blacks, and whites take center stage with metal and glass fixtures.

How to get the Industrial look with Wall Theory

Our real and faux concrete panels are a no-brainer here. It just comes down to choosing which!

Faux UrbanConcrete panels are an ultra-light weight option, great for getting the look of concrete indoors on walls, ceilings, and more. They come in flat slabs and slabs with anchor tie holes in them, so you can decide just how industrial you want the space to feel.

Our real concrete panels are a great option for exteriors, in high-moisture environments, or if you’re after the authentic feel of concrete. Our real concrete panels come in flat slabs and slabs with anchor tie holes. We also have a board-form concrete option, which creates a natural texture that really sets a space apart.

Lastly, our faux steel I-Beams are a great option to add the industrial feel to any room. Use them along the ceiling or upright to create the illusion of exposed support beams.

Here's some inspiration:

Coastal

What is coastal design?

Coastal style in home interior design is all about being beachy and breezy, with natural textures and light colors. Think seaside getaways with the ocean breeze blowing gently through white linen curtains.

White and light beige are typically offset by blue or green accents in coastal style, with wood, wicker, jute, and sea glass as the featured textures. Coastal design can also have a bit of a nautical feel to it.

Our As-Is wood wall planks will help you create the coastal look in no time. For a rustic edge, go with our White-Ish As-Is wood wall planks, or for a smoother finish go with our Hamptons White wood planks.

If you’ve got a feature wall or smaller area you’d like to add some color to, our Blue-Ish wood planks are just the ticket.

If you’re after something a little more unique, our faux ClassicBrick panels in Vintage White will do the trick with a more rugged texture.
