What better way to learn the art of interior design than from an interior designer themselves!

We sat down with one of our favorite designers to share their knowledge and expertise and why they love Wall Theory.

Wall Theory: Let’s start with your name?

Hi, I’m Jessica Georgieff.

WT: Thank you so much for taking some time to sit down with us. Can you tell us about your design firm?

Jessica: It’s Everything Exterior Store in Alberta, Canada and we’ve been around for over 30 years.  

WT: Tell us a little about how you got into interior design?

Jessica: When I was young, I spent much of my spare time designing homes using 3D modeling games. I’ve always loved creative tasks and chose to nurture this passion by studying art and design throughout university.

WT: Tell us a bit about your process. Where do you get your inspiration?

Jessica: I’m forever jotting down ideas, taking pictures and making lists whenever something in my surrounding environment sparks inspiration. I also really enjoy pinning ideas I see online and visiting art galleries to stay inspired.

WT: What’s the best piece of design advice you’ve ever received?

Jessica: In reference to the color wheel, Marc Chagall stated that “all colors are the friends of their neighbours and the lovers of their opposites”. When selecting a color palette for designing a space, it is important to always keep color theory in mind - Even greys have undertones.

WT: Do you have one interior item you just always splurge on?

Jessica: YES!I love holiday decor. I really enjoy changing the feel of my home’s interior and making the most out of every season.

WT: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

Jessica: I’d like to live in a location that’s a sort of combination of many places I’ve been to and loved. This place would be a small town that consists of the architecture and arts culture of Embu das Artes, a town of artisans in Brazil,  but the shopping and restaurant selection of a big city, with the mountains, lakes and vineyards of the Okanagan Valley.

WT: What’s the most and least glamorous part of your job?

Jessica: I think that the most glamorous part of my job is that moment when I've helped a customer with creating a design vision for their project. And as a result, have brought them from feeling overwhelmed with the task of designing their home, to feeling excited.

As for least glamorous? Labeling and maintaining my sample library may not be particularly glamorous to others, I still quite enjoy it as I like organizational detail-oriented tasks.

WT: If you could design any celebrity’s home, who would you pick?

Jessica: Although I don't have a particular celebrity in mind, I would love to design for a celebrity with an Arts & Crafts style home from the early 20th century. I would design the interior to expose the true age of the home and its original building materials. I'd incorporate a somewhat minimalist or hygge style with an overall atmosphere that's cozy and warm with natural, raw and simple materials and attention to small details.

WT: Are there any wall design trends you most excited about for 2019?

Jessica: I’m looking forward to the use of textured crisp white and soft champagne coloured walls complemented by the trending deeply pigmented hues of teal, crimson and gold.

WT: How long have you been using Wall Theory products?

Jessica: For nearly two years.

WT: And do you have a favorite thing about Wall Theory?

Jessica: The products enable you to completely alter and update the look and style of any room with complete ease.
